Using Route Parameter Replication
This article explains how to use the Route Parameter Replication tool in Easy Rides. This tool is a fast and easy way to copy elements from an existing day schedule (or day schedule template) onto another day schedule such as a new day schedule. It allows you to copy all or specific elements such as Drivers, Buses, Times and Constraints from the source schedule to the destination schedule. It's very important to always start by selecting the day schedule tab that you want to copy TO (the Destination). Sometimes people mistakenly click on the Source or template day schedule first, which will usually overwrite the template with the blank day schedule they were trying to set.
Instructions
Every time when you create a new day schedule:
- Click on the new day schedule which is the DESTINATION day schedule you want to update so that it is active.
- Click on the AutoSchedule menu then click on Route Parameter Replication.
- From inside the Route Parameter Replication tool, click on the Schedule to replicate (the SOURCE day schedule in this case, the Tues 1/1 day). This will list/display the setup below in the grid.
- Click OK to copy from the selected 1/1 day schedule template to the new active selected day schedule.
To copy JUST the site constraints onto the other day schedules after setting up a "template" day schedule
- Click on the DESTINATION day schedule you want to update (for example "Tomorrow") so that it is active.
- Click on the AutoSchedule menu then click on Route Parameter Replication
- From inside the Route Parameter Replication tool, click on the Schedule to replicate (the SOURCE day schedule in this case, the Tue 1/1 day). This will list/display the setup below in the grid.
- Clear the Drivers, Buses and Times check boxes leaving only Constraints.
- Click OK to copy from the selected 1/1 day schedule template to the active selected day schedule so you don't overwrite already set drivers, vehicles and hours.
Creating "Template" day schedules by creating a day schedule in the past (for example Jan 1st in the current year) is a good way to setup the default or typical day schedule with route assignments including drivers, vehicles, hours and constraints. You can then use the "Template" day schedule to copy the defaults to a new day schedule. When setting up a template, you can also use the tool to copy from one of your existing day schedules that's closest to being standard or default, then edit the drivers, hours, vehicles and constraints to represent a "standard" day. If you have set schedules for the different days of the week that differ, you might create a template for each weekday. Start by setting up one completely, then use Route Parameter Replication to copy to the other weekday templates before you finalize them.
